Premiere by Trio Ismena - ‘Solace’ was written in response to the Australian bushfires that raged over the continent throughout the latter part of 2019 and into early 2020, presumably killing 3 billion animals and an area of land larger than the United Kingdom. Ash rained from orange skies and the earth felt sick.
“The poets leave hell and again behold the stars.”
This piece was written as a homage to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven and was programmed alongside his 5th piano trio and Fanny Mendelssohn piano trio op. 11.
