The air moves like a river and carries the clouds with it; just as running water carries all the things that float upon it.
— Leonardo da Vinci

Performance Note:

Inspired by a reading of Leonardo da Vinci’s notebooks; an observational-based approach of the elements is reappropriated to a study of 3 entwined forms of the human body: the muscular-skeletal (percussion/piano), the waterbody (cello/double bass), and the nervous system (clarinet/electric guitar).

We are as much a reflection of the elements as we are an influence on them. Perhaps in reflecting inwards, we can see more clearly our effect and stance outwards on the many layers of our surrounding world and atmosphere. A case study of the pure essence and adulation of human observation. The ability to take in the surrounds with a gentleness and curiosity.
