Premiere of the Tannhäuser Overture commissioned by Mizmorim Festival for an ensemble of brass, strings and percussion.

The chamber setting of this work, composed by Richard Wagner, aims to maintain the full scale of the larger orchestration through spectral analysis that is transposed onto the new ensemble. The work is re-orchestrated to maintain as much of the original impetus of Wagner’s setting as possible, while modernising the sonic tapestry of today’s playing technique across the full instrumental spectrum.
